The Contacts screen allows you to view the contacts status and the inbox status at a glance. The LED in the title bar depicts the online status of the signed in user whereas the LED next to each contact depicts the online status of that contact. Each list item represents one contact and displays the name of the contact, the online status, the contact’s avatar and optionally, if the user location is known, text which indicates last time when location information was received from that contact. If there are unread messaged from a contact, a red marker appears over the contact avatar indicating how many unread messages you have from that specific contact.
On the right side of the title bar Maverick displays the count of unread e-mail messages in the Gmail inbox.
The conversation screen allows you to exchange messages with your IM contacts. Each contact has its own conversation screen which displays messages previously sent to and received from that specific contact. The most recent sent or received message is displayed at the bottom of the message history list. Each message has an associated icon to help you to quickly identify the message type (text, location, photo or scribble). From the conversation screen you can send text, multimedia and location messages and you can view and listen to the content of received messages. The title of the conversation screen displays the contact name and its online status.
You can quickly switch conversations by moving your finger left or right across the screen or using the trackball.
Scribbles are simple drawings created on your device using your finger. You can start a scribble from scratch or by drawing on top of an existing scribble or an existing photo.
You have a few drawing tools at its disposal. You can use a brush, draw rectangles, ovals or add text to your drawings.
Your current geo location can be sent to your contacts or to a blog. You can view the geo location messages received or sent on a map. When you receive location messages from contacts you can also view your current location in relation to the received location.
The Inbox screen displays Gmail notifications and IM invitations.
To view the contents of a Gmail notification, click the notification. This action will open the web browser which will allow you to sign in into your Gmail account to read the entire e-mail.
