In this version we fixed a problem related to the presence status. After the application is forcefully shut down by the system (due to resource constraints) and then later restarted, the presence status is properly restored.

A rare problem was fixed in this version: buddy icons that used an image which could not be used on the phone was causing a crash.

Two minor problems were addressed in this version:

• After changing the buddy icon the new buddy icon would not appear unless the user signed out and then back in.
• Buddy icons would not always appear in the conversation screen.

This version improves error messages in case of login failures and in case of message sending errors. These are just minor changes.

This version fixes the bug related to the automatic reset of presence notifications 30 seconds after they are displayed.

We also increased the size of the buddy icon cache to 500. Some buddy icons are not downloading due to AOL server errors. We notify AOL regarding this problem.

We fixed the problem with the message not being displayed if the screen is off.

This version addresses a bug and improves the performance related to avatars. Here is a list of changes:

• When the Android system needs memory to run other applications (especially complex applications such as the Browser and YouTube are started) it forcefully shuts down other background applications. In such a case the system restarts these background applications a short time later. “Hello IM!” will log back in when it is restarted.
• User images (avatars) are downloaded only when they are needed. This improves the overall application performance.
• New choose user dialog (when forwarding a message or choosing a user specific ringtone).
• Other minor improvements.

We apologize to all users who were having problems using the application today, Tuesday July 7th 2009. We further apologize for being unable to determine earlier the reason for the problem. Version 1.1.3 offers a temporary patch to the problem we identified today. In the next few days we will provide a better solution. In essence AOL has made a change to the service without notifying us. We wrongfully assumed that the problem was due to Internet disruptions (to our defense it was manifesting the same way).

In this version we fixed a bug related to the status message: sometime when setting the status message the incorrect text would appear in the contacts title.

In this version we fixed a bug related to the status change from a custom away message back to the “Online” state. We also set the auto-correct option for all editable input fields (the ones that require free form text).
